General Notes: Robert Finley Herriott Obituary: "The deceased was born near Farmer Village, Seneca county, N.Y., May 22nd 1824. In that delightful region between Seneca and Cayuga lakes, the first thirteen years of his life were spent. In the fall of 1837 he came with his parents to this State, the family being among the earliest settlers in the township of Macon. In Januaary, 1851, he was united in marriage to Martha E. Richart, who with an only daughter survives him. Married life was begun on their own farm, opposite the old homestead, and there the greater part of the active life of the deceased was spent. During a short period he was a resident of Newton, Calhoun county and during the last years he lived in Macon village... His name is found among the members of the earliest local temperance society, organized in 1841."
News Item, Tecumseh Herald, 7 Jun 1883, (p 5): " Last week Wednesday Mr. R. F. Harriott, who lives near Penningtons Corners [Macon], was missed from his home and his family searched two days for him in vain. On Friday his dead body was found lying in one of the fields on his own farm. It is supposed that he must have been stricken with an attack of heart disease."
