Ivy (Liddel) Price Obituary: "A Terrible Death Mrs. E. G. Price of Britton was run over by the east bound D. T. & M. train Wednesday. It is said that Mrs. Price has of late been very despondent, which prompted her to commit this terrible act, which was clearly a case of premeditated suicide. She deliberately stepped in front of the eastbound train and was instantly killed. She came to Britton Tuesday and purchased a box of chloroform but was discovered and it was taken from her by the family. Wednesday she prepared dinner for the family and walked out back of the house about a half of a mile to the railroad track and set in the tall grass until she saw the train approaching. She walked upon the track facing the engine awaiting death. She was thrown from the track and killed instantly. The section gang were eating dinner but a short distance from that place. They hastened there and identified the mangled remains. Mrs. Price's maiden name was Iva(sic) Liddle, she having been twice married. She was married to David Sloan of Macon, 13 years ago. Two daughters were born to them, Nina and Margretta who are living with their mother at the time of her death. Mr. Sloan died about 9 years ago. She was married to E. G. Price in November 1895. She was a member of the Reformed church of Britton, the Eastern Star of Tecumseh, the Ridgeway Grange also the L. O. T. M. of Britton. The funeral was held at the house Friday at 10 a.m. Internment at Tecumseh. She was born June 6, 1883(sic). She leaves a husband, two sisters, Mrs. Wilkerson(sic) of Macon and Mrs. Fulkerson of Clinton; a stepson, Geo Price, and a stepdaughter Lydia Price, to mourn her loss. The whole community feel the result of this horrible affair and have deep sorrow for her husband and all the friends."
