ARMADA - Mrs. Gertrude A. McEwen, 72, 23366 Torrey, died at home Wednesday after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 14, 1894, in Putnam County, Ohio, she was the daughter of James and Mary Leary. Her mother, Mrs. Leary, of Flint, survives her.
A member of the Women's Fellowship of the Armada Congregational Church and a member of Hope Reform Church in Detroit, she had lived in the Armada area for 15 years.
She married Arthur L. McEwen March 1, 1941 in Detroit. Mr. McEwen also survives her.
Other survivors are sons, Loren Frantz, of Royal Oak, and Charles, of Alpena; stepsons Leslie McEwen, of Kalamazoo; Thomas, of Oak Park; brothers Albert, Clarence and John, all of Flint; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Livingston, of Flint; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday at Tiffany-Young Funeral Home, Armada, with the Rev. Philip Stahl, pastor of Armada Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Gertrude married Clair Evett Frantz, son of Charles L. Frantz and Elizabeth Catlett. (Clair Evett Frantz was born on 20 Feb 1890 in Putnam County, Ohio, died on 16 Nov 1936 in Detroit, Michigan and was buried in Crawfis Cemetery/Frantz Section, Gilboa, Putnam County, Ohio.)
Gertrude next married Arthur McEwen.
