Sometime between 1660 - 1667 Stephen Brace came from London to the Plymouth Colony in Swanzea, Massachusetts. He was Norman English, of good estate, and a Puritan.
Stephen Brace settled in Hartford. The exact time he came to Hartford is not known. In 1673 he lived on lot 13 on Charter Street. He lived near Little River. He owned land at Rocky Hill, Great Meadow and Podaquanck Lands. He was a hatter and accumulated a large estate.
