The cemetery where David and Susanna Leary/Lary/Larey was buried was known as the Bowman Cemetery. It is on the land that originally belonged to Peter Bowman, who was Jacob Bowman's father, near War Branch Creek. Jacob Bowman was Susanna's father. The burial place is still not known for sure. David, Susanna and four of their children died of branch feaver (diphtheria) in Rockingham County, Virginia. The remaining 6 children went to Jackson County, Iowa to live with their maternal grandparents.
