In the fall of 1837 he came with his parents to this State, the family being among the earliest settlers in the township of Macon. In Januaary, 1851, he was united in marriage to Martha E. Richart, who with an only daughter survives him. Married life was begun on their own farm, opposite the old homestead, and there the greater part of the active life of the deceased was spent. During a short period he was a resident of Newton, Calhoun county and during the last years he lived in Macon village...
His name is found among the members of the earliest local temperance society, organized in 1841."
