Mrs. Myrtie E. Despelder Obituary: "Mrs. DeSpelder... was born in Saline township near the village of Macon, February 17, 1855. Her childhood was spent in Macon where she attended the old stone school. Macon was her home until 1884 when she was married to Rev. John A. DeSpelder, then pastor of the American Reformed church in Macon and organizer of the South Macon church and the church below the Ridge still known as the DeSpelder church.
Following their marriage Rev. and Mrs. DeSpelder made their home for 10 years in Orange City, Iowa, where he was pastor of the Reformed church and principal of Northwestern Academy. In 1896 they returned to Michigan and lived in Constantine, Holloway and Tecumseh. Since the death of her husband in 1914, Mrs. DeSpelder has made her home in Tecumseh, where she has been a member of the Presbyterian church for many years. She was 85 years of age and had spent all but a dozen years within a dozen miles of the farm home where she was born.
Survivors are one son Finley DeSpelder and two grandchildren Elizabeth and Marie DeSpelder of Columbus, Ohio.
