bullet General Notes:

We met Libby Wampler Custer of Hinton, Virginia in 2016. She was 103 yrs. old. She knew Claude C. Leary and gave directions to where he used to live. We drove south of Hinton and took a left turn off of the high road down into a small hollow where there was an old two story house facing a creek with smoke coming out of the chimney. The Shenandoah Valley is hilly, but the feeling of the surroundings was more mountain than valley. The scene looked like something that might have existed in the 1800s. It was private property so there was no exploring or picture taking.
