Eldon and Shirley Coller kept in touch over the years with Max Ross and his wife Dorothy (Dotti). Max was always trying different things to make money. He tried to get Eldon to buy part of the Andrea Doria at one point. He was attempting to gather investors to raise the ship. He also invested in real estate and pursued many other endeavors. At one point he confided that he made almost a million dollars on a deal and then spent much of it traveling Europe with Dorothy.
He enjoyed playing golf. He had a serious car accident and lost an eye, but he continued to play golf.
Max married Dorothy Somerville on 13 May 1950.
