Donald Granville Coller

  General Notes:

Like his father, Donald did not believe in banks. The following is a recollection of Karen Coller Curell - My Father also did not believe in banks after losing money in the Shabbona Bank in 1929. When he died, my Mother and I found a shoe box full of money tucked in the safe in envelopes amongst his papers. We then had to deal with the IRS who investigates large amonts of loose money being deposited.

According to his draft registration at age 33 he was 5'9" tall, 185 pounds, light complexion, brown hair and blue eyes.

Donald's farm was accross the street from his parents farm. The address is 2221 N. Germania Road. The original farmhouse still stands.

There was a tree farm on part of the property. One evening Donald went out to cut some trees and never returned. He had passed and was found among the trees.

Donald married Hazel Mary Tank on 28 Oct 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan. (Hazel Mary Tank was born on 19 May 1910,⁴¹ died on 26 Apr 1992 in Snover, Sanilac County, Michigan and was buried in Johnson Cemetery, Lamotte Township, Sanilac County, Michigan.)
